    Experience Itinerary

How the experience unfolds, stage by stage.

    1

    Welcome & Departure

Your guide meets the group at a central Stockholm location. After a brief introduction to the day ahead — the reserve, the route and what to expect — the group travels together to Nacka. The journey itself is short, but the shift from city to forest begins almost immediately.

    Into Nacka Nature Reserve

Entering the reserve, the city falls away and the forest takes over. Tall pine and birch trees line the trail as the group moves deeper into the woodland. Your guide begins to introduce the character of Nacka — its geology, its ecology and the way the landscape has shaped outdoor life in this part of Sweden for centuries.

    Rocky Outcrops & Forest Viewpoints

The trail climbs onto rocky ground, where the trees thin and the landscape opens up. From elevated points along the route, there are views out over the forest canopy and the still lakes below. Your guide shares knowledge of the reserve's wildlife — the birds, tracks and seasonal signs that reveal who else moves through this landscape.

    Open-Fire Lunch in the Forest

At the midpoint of the hike, the group gathers in a quiet forest clearing for lunch. Food is prepared simply over a small open fire — a practice deeply rooted in Swedish outdoor tradition. It is an unhurried pause in the middle of the forest, with time to rest, to warm up and to take in the stillness of the landscape around you.

    Lakeside & Seasonal Moments

The route continues to the edge of one of Nacka's forest lakes. In summer, guests are welcome to swim in the clear, cool water — a quintessentially Swedish experience in a setting that feels entirely natural. In winter, when conditions allow, the frozen lake offers a very different kind of encounter with the landscape: quiet, dramatic and unlike anything most visitors have experienced.

    Return Through the Forest

The final section of the hike follows woodland trails back towards the reserve boundary. The pace eases as the day draws to a close. Your guide wraps up with reflections on what the group has seen and discovered, and the journey back to Stockholm offers time to settle into the quiet satisfaction of a proper day outdoors.
